I am a passionate educator and mentor. My approach to both of these roles is student-centric, focusing on ways to help students achieve their individual goals.
My program of research broadly aims to better understand, predict and prevent suicide and other self-injurious thoughts and behaviors. The work of our laboratory, the Risk Prediction and Prevention Lab (RiPPL), has recently been focused on developing accessible and culturally responsive interventions to prevent suicide in our Bronx community and others like it.
I am especially interested in teaching students about research methods in psychology, such as statistics and research design. I hope to make these subjects digestible and engaging in ways that enhance students' clinical training and other career goals. I am also passionate about teaching topics related to emotion, including how these develop through adolescence/young adulthood and influence risk for psychopathology.
